On Saturday 28 November, Friends of St Vigor's held its annual Advent fair, which was organised by the indefatigable Mick Carr, president of the Friends (below), at the Fulbourn Centre's Townley Hall.
The Advent Fair always presents local businesses with an important opportunity to showcase their products - one example being Debbie Sadler, who makes and sells Magnetic Hematite Jewellery.
Good causes were of course represented, with Gill and Peter Godber dessing appropriately for a charity they work for extensively - CBM, the international Christian development organisation which helps poor people with disabilities and is known as the overseas disability charity. Gill is CBM UK's Publicist and Cambridgeshire Representative. They were also selling Christmas cards made by local artists and donated to VAO (Vision Aid Overseas).
Marie Dorrian staffed a stall for Spring of Hope, a micro-charity that helps children with disabilities in Uganda. All the goods were handmade there, and many had colour-schemes based round the colours of the Ugandan flag.
A festive touch to the proceedings, as well as a reminder of what the season is all about, was added by the choir of Fulbourn Primary School, before they left to perform another engagement in Cambridge, under the watchful eye of Headteacher and conductor Fiona Thorpe.
It was a good day which raised over £1100. Well done everybody!
