The feedback from patients at both sites was very useful and it was apparent that a significant number of patients were not comfortable with the triage system and the wait involved for their phone calls to be returned. However, we had positive comments from patients about the opportunity to have a telephone consultation with the doctor or nurse, rather than having to come to the surgery.

Thank you for bearing with us during the trial and giving us your feedback. We have now returned to the appointments booking system that we had before but have amended it to include the positive aspects of the trial.

Doctors' appointments

We will continue to offer a mix of appointments which can be booked in advance or on the day. We have increased the number of pre-bookable appointments available.
We are also providing the opportunity for a telephone consultation with a doctor or specialist nurse and a limited number of these consultations will be available each day if you would prefer not to come in.

We have Specialist Nurses who are able to see patients with asthma and hayfever, coughs and colds, earache and eye infections, insect bites, rashes and tummy upsets as well as a range of other problems. The receptionists will be able to advise you if an appointment with the Specialist Nurse is appropriate.

Nurse appointments

Routine nurse appointments can and should be booked in advance, please.

In particular, we need as much notice as possible to book appointments for contraceptive depot injections and travel immunisation advice and injections.

Please remember that you can book doctor and nurse appointments up to four weeks ahead. We hope that the changes will offer the majority of our patients a system that provides access to a doctor or nurse within a reasonable timescale.
