Manor Mill Morris - looking for dancers!

Manor Mill Morris is a group of ladies, North West Clog Morris dancers.

We would love to have some new members to keep our group going strong as we are the only NW Clog Morris group in the Cambridge area.

Our website

Manor Mill Morris was established over 25 years ago. We practice just to the north of Cambridge city centre but have new members from many of the surrounding villages as well as those who live in the city. We regularly perform in and around the Cambridge area and in music festivals.

Manor Mill Morris will start practice again in October 2012 on a Monday evening at St Augustine's Church, Richmond Road, Cambridge. This year we will be holding a welcome evening for new members and people interested in seeing what it is like to be a member. Come and try or come and watch. Owning clogs is not essential: trainers or sports shoes will do to begin with!

If you are interested in taking up clog dancing or want to be kept informed about our term start date/newcomers evening then please contact us by email. We will then get in touch later with more information.

Workshop on the proposed Ida Darwin Housing Development

Planning Workshop on the Proposed Ida Darwin Housing Development
Saturday 1 September, 10.00am to 3.00pm at the Fulbourn Centre
If you attended the Public Meeting and registered your interest, then you should be contacted soon by Mary Drage, Chair of Fulbourn Parish Council. If you were unable to attend but are still interested in being part of the Workshop, then please contact Mary at, as soon as possible. If you can only make part of the day, please still contact Mary to discuss the options available.

The Workshop will be broken down into four groups working under the titles:

  • Design/Policy
  • Traffic/Transport/Access/Services
  • Environment/Ecology
  • Community Cohesion/Employment

The formal working groups will be preceded by a presentation by the consultants for the Mental Health Trust and a Questions and Answers session. A Plenary session will conclude the day. Each group will be led by a facilitator and have a scribe to facilitate reporting back. The results of the workshop will form the basis of a report by the Ida Darwin Steering Group (comprising six councillors and three others) which will be presented to the Mental Health Trust and their consultants.

The headings of the Workshop are necessarily broad and will be more closely defined in session, but, in any case, there are bound to be overlaps. As reported before, no firm scheme proposal has yet been submitted, and the purpose of the Workshop is, therefore, not to comment or appraise a design or layout, but to highlight the issues which are of importance to the village and which we would wish the developers to include or resolve within the constraints of the site and the relevant planning legislation. The consultants for the Trust have prepared a Site Appraisal document which will be available on the day, but if you would like to see a copy in advance please contact David Cottee at

This is a great opportunity to discuss and develop, in an ordered and structured format, many of the issues that not only affect the Ida Darwin site but which are also relevant to the pressure for other future housing development in Fulbourn. We hope that many of you will be able to participate on the day.
